GRADING
Grades are based on the test scores, quizzes, class work, homework assignments, participation, projects, and group activities.
Make-up work is the student’s responsibility. You will be given two days to make up class work missed as a result of an absence for full credit. All absentee homework must be turned in prior to a test on that section. There will be at least 2 (50 point) quizzes per quarter and a 100 point test at the end of every quarter/semester. Small pop quizzes and exit slips will be given weekly. Test/quiz must be made up within a week of your return (see teacher for date and time) or you will receive a zero for the test. If you are absent the day before a test, you are still required to take the test that day.
*Late work NOT accepted! When you fail to do out of class work, for example, homework or turn in class work; it can ONLY be made up by coming to my room before school, lunch or homeroom to stay and make up the assignment. Absences you will have two days for CREDIT!
NOTEBOOK
Each student is required to have a PENCIL, NOTEBOOK, and PAPER in class each day. ALL WORK SHOULD BE IN PENCIL, exceptions, word search and projects. You will lose points for work consistently done in pen.
GRADING SCALE
Students are graded on a point system. Every assignment is awarded a set number of points. At the end of each quarter points are added for each student, then that number is divided by the number of points possible. For example, a student earned 450 points. The total number possible is 550. The student’s grade would be 82%. At the end of the semester, grades will also be determined on the basis of total points earned during the entire semester.
THE SCALE 100% - 90% A
89% - 80% B
79% - 70% C
69% - 60% D
59% - below F
Plus (+) and minus (-) grades are optional.
CHEATING
Anyone apprehended giving or taking answers during a test, quiz, or other type of graded assignment will receive a zero for that assignment and referred to the appropriate Associate Principal.
If, during the course of the year, rules need to be added to insure proper classroom behavior they will be done so without hesitation.
